Frequently Asked Questions

I'm new! Where do I start?
Generally, each program has its own introductory class (Intro to Insert Program Here) for kids or adults. We offer a few classes that do not require any introductory class. For more in-depth information, check out our welcome page.

I have experience, can I skip the Intro class?
The Intro class is a prerequisite. You may choose instead to take a private lesson and with instructor approval can proceed to Level 1/White Band. We insist on introductory sessions regardless of previous experience because we want to make sure we are all on the same page skill- and safety-wise before jumping into classes of the next level. Many skills have different names depending on where you learned them.

What should I wear/bring to class?
Bring a water bottle. We have a water fountain intended for refilling cups and bottles.
For parkour, wear clothes and shoes that you’re comfortable jumping around in. No sandals/boots/crocs/etc.
For aerial Silks and gymnastics, students are barefoot. Please do not wear any jewelry, clothing with studs, belts, zippers, or anything that can get caught in the silks, or perfumes or lotions. The aerial fabric is very absorbent. Shirts that cover backs, sides, and armpits are recommended.

How do I schedule a private lesson or birthday party?
Please visit our online calendar here to see available bookings under the Make an Appointment tab. For parties, send us a party inquiry form here.

What do you learn in private lessons? Is it just me?
Private lessons are very flexible and we can teach you almost anything you'd like to learn! Wanna learn a backflip? (That's our most popular request.) Handstand? No idea? We can work with your goals to come up with a plan tailored for you.
Private lessons are one-on-one. We do offer semi-private lessons which you can book by emailing us at info@mindshiftgym.com.

What do you do during a birthday party?
The general format of a birthday party is a few minutes of warmup and introductions, an hour of your chosen activity with our instructors (Parkour/Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course and/or Aerial Silks), and ending with some free time. For more info, check out our party page here.
